Description
Circa 1699. This manor house has lived through a succession of expansions, the first addition built in 1750. The final effect is wonderful and mysterious. The inn, thought to be a hiding place for Tories during the Revolutionary War, features a huge open-hearth fireplace with beehive oven and a secret passageway connecting the upstairs and downstairs suites. The inn is reminiscent of a gracious English country house and is filled with Oriental rugs and antiques. All but one of the guest rooms boasts fireplaces, and four have large whirlpool baths. Enjoy complimentary sherry, port and brandy as you relax in the cozy and spacious living room. Two acres of manicured lawns include a regulation-size tennis court. Nature lovers will enjoy the landscape, dotted with cherry and apple trees. The romantic gazebo is the perfect location to view the fountain garden. A full gourmet breakfast is served on the brick terrace or fireside in the formal dining room.

Historic Interest | This circa, 1699, New England Bed and Breakfast, reflects the elegance and romance of an all-but-forgotten way of life. The six bedchambers or suites are carefully decorated and appointed to reflect the 17 century details of the Inn. Each room has its own special charm... some feature New England shuttered windows, or colorful old Nantucket speckled floors and canopy beds. Evidence of its age and history can be seen in the wide board flooring; wood usually reserved for the King during colonial times; hugh open-hearth fireplaces; one with a bee-hive oven; and a secret passage connecting the upstairs and downstairs---thought to be a hiding place for Tories during the Revolutionary War.
