Circa 1775. The home's original owners, the Lipscombe family, and later residents made several additions to this Colonial manor home, but left original features such as moldings, wainscoting, mantelpieces and heart-of-pine floors. A marker and stone arrowhead designate the land as the former location of the Great Path between mountains and Virginia, which was traveled by many Catawba and Waxhaw Indians. Rustic rooms are decorated to complement the fine woodwork. Quilts and canopy beds create a comfortable, romantic feeling. The Land Grant Cabin features rustic furnishings, a fireplace and sleeping loft set among its cozy wooden walls. The innkeepers take pride in creating a different feast every morning for breakfast. The inn is close to Duke University. The inn is winner of the Durham Chamber of Commerce 1st annual Micro Business Award.
