Description

Circa 1899. Grandly reflecting its heritage, this Colonial Revival features a crowning widow's walk. The south-facing elliptical entrance portico boasts graceful Ionic columns and leaded glass double front doors. Located in College Hill on the historic east side of Providence, it is an easy and safe walk to Brown University or the Rhode Island School of Design and less than a mile to the revitalized downtown and river walk. Affordable elegance, a warm ambiance and comfortable surroundings blend with original period furnishings and tasteful reproductions consistent with the character of the house. Relax in the fireside guest lounge. Experience a restful night's sleep in the Family Suite or Twin Room then gather in the Breakfast Room that shares a back-to-back fireplace with the living room.

Welcoming, warm, great location

I have stayed at Annie Brownell's several times over the years and Annie is always warm and welcoming. The Inn is clean and comfortable with a really wide variety of room arrangements. I always leave knowing that I will come back again. The location is great for walking around the East side and around the Brown and RISD campuses. The cost is reasonable .

Romantic and refreshing!

Fabulous house, fabulous hostess! I return again and again to my "home away from home" in the most beautiful and historic area of Providence. Exquisite period furnishings, oh-so-comfortable beds, lovingly prepared-to-order breakfasts (request the Banana Nut Pancakes or Almond French Toast!), and a gracious innkeeper who knows all the secret treasures that make Providence so fascinating. And the price is such a bargain! An authentic Bed and Breakfast where one is treated like an honored guest. Short and lovely walk to world class dining, shopping, museums, RISD, Brown University, and vibrant downtown Providence. Come for a Waterfire weekend -- unforgettable!
