Description

Circa 1847. Original wood floors, stained glass, high ceilings and a grand hall stairway showcase this 1847 pre-Civil War Antebellum mansion that adorns more than an acre in a historic residential district. Complimentary refreshments are available all the time. A library offers use of movies, books and games. Each of the casually elegant guest bedrooms combines antiques with modern comfort and upscale amenities, including personal care products, hair dryers and irons. Some rooms feature Jacuzzi or garden tubs, private balconies, kitchenettes and wheelchair access. An incredible "skip a lunch" breakfast begins with six choices of juice, then breads or muffins before a specialty fruit dish. A hot egg-based entrée is accompanied by the pancakes of the day, one of the more than 40 varieties prepared. Meander through the flower-lined pathways to the koi pond or swing in the gazebo.

A Treasure in Americus

We love everything about your B&B, especially YOU! We are already planning our return. Thank you for making your inn comfortable, peaceful and safe. Such a haven from our chaotic, hurried world. We feel we discovered a treasure - YOU! This was the best experience, best breakfast and best conversations. Thank you so much.

Great Retreat in Georgia

Wow! What can I say, but that everything was simply the greatest - from the B&B house itself, to the beautiful grounds, to the delicious food and most of all - the care, giving, and sharing of yourselves + the sharing of this part of Georgia with everyone. What more can I say, but it is great to know that I have a 2nd home to retreat to for the future...

60th Wedding Anniversary

Dear Susan and Kim, My wife and I have been in a lot of places due to me being in the army, but, without a doubt, this has been a first. And what a first! Nothing has compared to this. You two are very special people. We pray that we will meet again. With our thanks and God's love

Americus Garden Inn-Great Experienc

This B&B is a charming victorian home. The accommodations are very comfortable and include all amenities. Our room was spacious and very comfortable. Susan and Kim, the innkeepers, are the best. They pay attention to every detail. They were available but not hovering. The living room area was very comfortable and we enjoyed an after dinner visit with my sister and her husband, who were also guests. The breakfast was fabulous--everything homemade and great coffee. The town of Americus has many older, restored homes; the area offers several historical sites. We were about 10 miles from Plains, Georgia, home of former President Jimmy Carter. We will definitely return to the Americus Garden Inn!

One of a Kind

Susan and Kim are excellent hosts. The "breakfast" in "bed and breakfast" takes on new meaning in Susan's kitchen. Every morning a delicious, healthy and visually beautiful culinary feast. (She gladly accommodated a food allergy or two, as well). The rooms are varied one to the next (over the years I've stayed in 4 different ones) but each is decorated with exquisite taste with no sacrifice in comfort. The setting benefits from Kim's lovely gardening and tons of light. It's worth heading south (or north) with the Americus Garden Inn as your destination. One of a kind, for sure.

What we expected ...and more!

My colleague and I live and work in the Atlanta area. We both love literature, history, and share an admiration for President Jimmy Carter. Weeks ago we planned this "get-away" to Andersonville, Americus, and Plains, GA, hoping that it would be both educational, inspirational, and relaxing. We found all that we expected, and more! The Americus Garden Inn was simply lovely! Innkeepers Kim & Susan Egelseer were such gracious hosts, complete with the smell of fresh-baking break in the morning, history lessons about the home and area, and recommendations for our Saturday evening meal in Americus. Sandy and I returned to Atlanta refreshed...relaxed from our very pleasant stay at the Inn, touched by the sites and sounds of Andersonville, and inspired by our beloved President Jimmy Carter! This trip will always be a special memory for us. We would definitely recommend it to others!
