Very private and secluded w/own private patio entrance.Fireplace, jacuzzi tub for 2, TV, dual sinkshad stayed with John and Lisa before at their other property - Shady Oaks on Zinfandel Lane - and they are just as helpful and gregarious as I remembered. We stayed in the Ambrose Bierce Suite, which was very comfortable and roomy, with a nice sitting room, spa bath/shower and very comfortable bed. There's also a nice hot tub downstairs that we used twice. Downtown St. Helena (and great shopping and dining), as well as several wineries, including the iconic Berringer, are all within easy walking distance, and its only a short drive to literally dozens of household name wineries and dining. John and Lisa serve up a great breakfast daily, put out a nice wine and cheese spread each afternoon, and they are an endless source of information. Frankly, I can't imagine a visit to Napa Valley without involving them!

Circa 1872. A white iron archway welcomes guests to this three-story Victorian, once home to short story writer Ambrose Bierce. (Gregory Peck visited the house and starred as Bierce in the movie Old Gringo.) Guest rooms offer high ceilings, antiques, fine linens, fresh flowers and high beds. Rooms offer special features such as Jacuzzi tubs, a fireplace and canopy beds. Enjoy evening wine or early morning coffee from the balcony while admiring the massive redwood providing the shade, or listen to the classical music that plays softly in the parlor. At breakfast, expect entrees such as eggs Benedict or Belgian waffles as well as freshly baked croissants. Champagne is offered each morning. John is a hobby winemaker (200 cases a year) and Lisa is famous for her award-winning landscaping and flowerbeds. Galleries, shops and restaurants are a stroll away in historic downtown.
