Circa 1872. A white iron archway welcomes guests to this three-story Victorian, once home to short story writer Ambrose Bierce. (Gregory Peck visited the house and starred as Bierce in the movie Old Gringo.) Guest rooms offer high ceilings, antiques, fine linens, fresh flowers and high beds. Rooms offer special features such as Jacuzzi tubs, a fireplace and canopy beds. Enjoy evening wine or early morning coffee from the balcony while admiring the massive redwood providing the shade, or listen to the classical music that plays softly in the parlor. At breakfast, expect entrees such as eggs Benedict or Belgian waffles as well as freshly baked croissants. Champagne is offered each morning.
