Description
Circa 1888. One of Eureka's leading lumber barons built this picturesque home, a National Historic Landmark, from 1,000-year-old virgin redwood. Original wallpapers, wool carpets and antique light fixtures create a wonderfully authentic Victorian ambiance. Croquet fields and Victorian gardens surround the inn. With a stay of two or more nights, guests enjoy a complimentary ride in one of our two antique automobiles, with a tour of Eureka’s many Victorian neighborhoods. Your choice of a “Rumble Seat” ride in our 1931 Ford Deluxe Coupe, or the back seat of our 1928 Ford convertible Phaeton. The beds in the well-appointed guest quarters are topped with custom-made mattresses. There is a video library of vintage silent films. The inn has been host to many historic personalities, including actresses Lillie Langtry and Sarah Bernhardt, and many senators and representatives. The Pacific Ocean, beaches and the Giant Redwoods are only a few minutes away.
