Circa 1897. Located minutes from Harvard Square, this colonial revival house reflects the rich ambiance of the Cambridge historical district. Surround yourself in the finest New England culture, located walking distance from the house. Visit museums, theaters and fine restaurants. Rest under the voluminous trees in the park across the street, or hop on the Red Line for an excursion to Boston. After an active day of sight seeing, return to the warmth of turn-of-the-century antique decor at this three-story home away from home. Enjoy a savory breakfast featuring such delights as home-baked, sesame-orange spice bread and cranberry brody, and spend the afternoon relaxing in an overstuffed chair or Grandmother's cane rockers with some tea or sherry.

A Bed & Breakfast In Cambridge

This place was deceptive in that it bore little resemblance to its lovely description. The kitchen was dirty, the bedrooms were crowded, not cleaned daily, and smelled like mothballs. The so-called antique furniture was reminiscent of a yard sale. It was dark. There is no sitting area. It is on the third floor and is simply an apartment the owners do not live in, but a young person cooks breakfast for the guests. A Bed & Breakfast in Cambridge

Management Response
We are very sorry you did not enjoy your stay and we have addressed your comments. We are not sure when you were here since we cannot find you in our guest books nor in any emails.During the summer of 2007 we found and eliminated a source of mothball smell and have had no smell and no complaint since then. The rooms are cleaned daily. We always appreciate and ask for feedback and specific suggestions from guests. We have evaluation forms available in every room. We have worked with our assistant managers to make things better. We are updating and editing the description on our website and on the websites of our marketing and reservation partners. We own and occupy the 1897 Colonial Revival building. A Bed & Breakfast in Cambridge is located on the third floor of a yellow three story wooden building called a triple-decker. Our building faces south and the rooms are relatively large, sunny and light. Each bedroom has a king or queen bed, cable television, telephone, free wireless Internet, a writing desk, and an over-stuffed chair. Each bedroom includes at least one family antique and an oil painting by us. We have an open back porch which is up among the trees. Our building is close on foot to Harvard University and to Harvard Square and is easy to reach from the airport and train and bus station by public transportation. We rent to tenants who are on the first and second floors. We have lived on the third floor for about 40 years and for 20 years have welcomed guests to three bedrooms that share a bath. We serve a fancy breakfast at a round table in our large kitchen which includes a sitting area along with local books and tourist information. We have two assistant managers who help us operate the bed and breakfast. One of our assistant managers lives in the building and attends graduate school nearby. We enjoy learning from our guests and helping them find what they are interested in. Guests can easily get to MIT and to Boston by bus or subway. We also operate A Bed & Breakfast in the Berkshires in western Massachusetts near the Tanglewood Music Festival. We also sometimes travel outside of Massachusetts. When we are not in Cambridge, we encourage guests to call us with any question. We can be reached by phone or email. No question is too small. Doane Perry, Innkeeper November 2008
