Description

Circa 1899. The waves in Monterey Bay lap at the shores of the four-building serene retreat steeped in history. Antique furnishings and classic MGs on display lend a sense of the regal wealth of old. Guest rooms boast the romance of wood-burning fireplaces, the relaxation of claw foot tubs, and the comfort of terry bathrobes. Signature dishes such as ginger-apple crepes or roasted tomato tarts are prepared by the full-time chef and served Victorian style each morning. Winemaker Dinners offer an opportunity to sample five to seven wines paired with a custom menu and wine notes presented by the winemaker. The Game Room features an 1880's pool table, the Library boasts over 1,000 books and magazines, and the Ocean View Sitting Rooms have incomparable views. Guests can stroll 1500 feet to the famed Monterey Bay Aquarium and Cannery Row or take in the views along the 17-mile waterfront trail in front of the inn.

We have a "Proposal Room" overlooking the bay. With notice, we will set up the room with fresh flowers, lighted candles, privacy sheers. We'll even "hide" the ring for the surprise question. Gorgeous rooms, some with fireplaces, some canopy beds, ocean views; within a stroll to Lover's Point Park. Walking path follows the ocean directly in front of Inn.

Romantic

The MARTINE INN in Pacific Grove should be included in your "10 top Romantic Inns"! An excellent H de O/Social hour with homemade goodies, not just cheesea nd crackers! Breakfast is an amazing sit-down affair, and just as scrumptious! Both take place in a large room with wall to wall glass looking out over the Pacific Ocean!! The rooms are both comfortable and beautiful with many looking out to the ocean. The service is fantastic!

romantic oceanside retreat

Everything about the Martine Inn lends itself to a romantic getaway, from the ambiance of the inn, the care of the staff, the spectacular view, the delicious breakfast and evening repast to the charming room decor. You will love it and want to return again and again.
