Historic Interest

Built in 1922, the Starkey House was built by a business man, C.Raymond Brewer over the former location of the original Starkey Hotel of the mid-1800's. It was built as a residence and office for his family but adjacent to the main passenger railroad station that created the historic "hub" of activity in Starkey, NY during those times. The craftsmen built the Starkey House on site using hand tools and wood sourced and brought in via the train and vessels along Seneca Lake. The immediate location was where all local hamlets, called "Eddys" came to the country store, post office and train transportation. The barn which is still on the property, was built circa 1865 and was used to feed, water, and stable the horses used to pull the stagecoaches of the time, which picked up and delivered passengers from the train.

Warm, inviting, cozy

My children and I really enjoyed our large adjoining rooms with pristine brand new bathroom. Even though the weather was cold, our rooms were comfortable, and the breakfast was much more interesting than most typical B&B breakfasts...delicious and well-prepared but still kid-friendly.

Planning a return trip!

I went up to 1922 Starkey House Bed and Breakfast Inn over the holidays with my boyfriend. The room was beautiful and comfortable with an en suite bathroom which was my most important requirement. The Innskeeper, Cathy was friendly and very helpful with activity recommendations. This B&B is so close to all the wineries and lake. It was very convenient! The breakfast was phenomenal!! We are planning on returning in the Summer!

Wonderful vegan breakfasts!

This was our first B&B experience and it greatly exceeded our expectations. We made last minute reservations when our original vacation plans were cancelled, but we were lucky to find the 1922 Starkey House. We're both vegans and were nervous about finding vegan-friendly accommodations, but Cathy went out of her way to accommodate our vegan diet and was very knowledgeable about our restrictions. The breakfasts were exceptional and delicious! Our room was very comfortable, and Cathy was a wonderful host. There's lots to do in the area and Cathy was very helpful with suggestions. We had a wonderful experience and definitely plan to return.
