Circa 1891. This Queen Anne mansion, on the National Register of Historic Places, is one of the largest and most opulent residences surviving Asheville's 1890s boom. A captain's walk, projecting turrets and expansive verandas welcome guests to lavish interior woodwork created by artisans employed by the Vanderbilts. All rooms are furnished in antiques with satin and lace trappings. There is an evening dessert service.

About Our Rooms

The Study Room

Conveniently located on the first floor of the mansion in a quiet back area of the Inn. The entry door opens to a small foyer with a second door leading to the bedroom. A solid brass Queen bed is graced with a half canopy at the head. In addition, the room features a day sleigh bed for a second guest(or third, with additional charge). Features an antique mahogany armoire and large, oval mirrored dresser and private bath with a deep clawfoot tub (with shower)

 

Eastlake Room

Eastlake RoomThis elegant, spacious room has all the embellishments of its era dating back to 1891. A Queen bed dressed with a damask spread and velvet pillows, rests under a cloud of white Victorian lace, veiling the high ceiling. Includes a fainting couch and fireplace and private bath, with shower and clawfoot tub.

 

Romeo & Juliet Room

The high, open ceiling of this guestroom has an oak and brass fitted fan, surrounded by a decorative medallion. Charming floral wall paper, with shades of bittersweet, wisteria blue and moss green. Queen-size bed, chest and armoire, plus comfortable reading chair. An antique vanity in the bedroom has been modified to accommodate a basin; small private bath.

William BreeseRichly carved mahogany wood majestically frames the Queen bed. A crest of luxurious fabric provides a canopy over a thick spread of deep gold, adorned with an abundance of satin and velvet pillows. Private bath with shower, cylinder-top desk near the fireplace.

 

Queen Anne Room

Queen Anne RoomStately King bed has a spread of rich fabrics which compliments the high ceiling, veiled with a matching pattern of deep reds and sage green. Fireplace, fluffed feather pillows and complimentary turndown service. Includes deep basin tub and shower.

 

Garden Room

Garden RoomThis bright room, decorated with Laura Ashley paper and bedding, reveals views of landscaped grounds and English perennial gardens. A Queen bed of brass and white iron is veiled in a canopy of white netting. Fireplace and deep, old-fashioned clawfoot tub (and shower).

 

The Page Room

The Page RoomElaborate fringed drapes frame the entranceway of this cozy, home-like room of blues and pinks. King bed with satin spread, high-backed wing chairs and private bath.

 

The Tower Room

King bed, with a high majestic headboard of carved oak, is nestled in this tower of the grand mansion. The bath is found three steps up in a private turret. A deep clawfoot tub resides in the middle of this capacious charming retreat with hardwood flooring, antique vanities and mirrors.

 

Celebration Suite

King bed dressed in white matelasse and heaped with satin pillows, is the centerpiece of the bedroom. Private Jacuzzi tub (with hand-held shower) and comfortable living area, complete with television. Sofa can be converted into a sleeper.

 

The Serenity Suite

The Serenity SuiteWonderfully secluded suite at the garden level of the mansion. A large private verandah, complete with charming wicker furnishings, is a delightful prelude to the symphony of colors, comforts and casual elegance found within. The cozy sitting room has a plush sofa (converts to a full sleeper), reading chair, and flat screen television. King bed complimented by an Empire-style oak dresser and gas fireplace, with a delicately carved mantle. The full bath has a Jacuzzi tub for two, enhanced by a 'rain-effect' shower head. A coffeemaker and mini-frig are conveniences exclusive to this suite
