Description

Circa 1853. This Gothic Revival, painted in a cheerful shade of yellow, is still much the same as it was in the 1850s, when it served as the home on a prominent local farm. The rooms still feature the outstanding carved woodwork, crisscross window designs, winding staircases, decorative mantels and hardwood floors. Guest quarters are tastefully appointed with antiques, suitable for their 12-foot, nine-inch tall ceilings. Complimentary coffee and tea stations are provided in each room. There are several common areas in the Main House and Carriage House, and guests also take advantage of the inn's porches. Rose Cottage is octagon shaped and features a 25-foot vaulted ceiling, a king bed, fireplace, sitting area, double whirlpool, steam shower and wraparound porch. The National Register home is close to all of Louisville's attractions.

Not very accommodating

My wife booked a room at the Inn, unfortunately 4 days before our reservation, I suffered a heart attack and was rushed into surgery. My wife canceled the reservation immediately only to be told that they would not refund our $100 security deposit unless someone else booked the room.

Management Response
This guest paid a $100 non refundable deposit for the Rose Cottage. The only two rooms that have the non refundable deposit are Rose Cottage and the Attic Suite and the deposit is for weekend bookings. We do not refund the non refundable deposits but we do allow the guest to use the deposit for a future stay.

Post-Birth Getaway

My wife and I live only minutes away, but the Inn provided a much-needed escape! We stayed with our infant in the baby-friendly "Derby Room" in the Carriage House. The room was absolutely lovely with its high ceiling and brick walls. Amenities were generous, and bathroom was luxurious! Breakfast was really delicious as well, and Marsha and the staff were very kind and helpful. The only down-side is that condos surround the property. But the neighborhood is quiet and peaceful. We would love to stay again and recommend it to others!

Best B&B in Louisville!

My husband and I stayed at many local B&Bs, enjoying regular little "getaways", but the Inn at Woodhaven soon became the only place we stay now. The place is absolutely beautiful, and the innkeeper spares no expense in amenities, and displays the most gracious hospitality. So many extra special touches await here, and the breakfast is always outstanding. Highly recommended inn!

I can't wait to return!

AMAZING! That is all I can say! My husband and I cannot stop talking about what a wonderful time we had staying at the Woodhaven Inn last week. We came into town hoping to explore the city, but spent more time in the room because we didn't want to leave! The hearth room that we stayed in had a 10 ft. fireplace and whirlpool tub. The room (not to mention the breakfast!) was absolutely fantastic. My son is getting married this spring and we've decided to send him and his bride for their wedding night. I'm sure they'll enjoy it just as much as we did.

Cozy, Comfortable,

Over the weekend, my husband, young adult daughter and myself had the pleasure of staying at The Inn at Woodhaven. This was our 2nd time staying at the Inn. Both trips have been excellent. This trip, we booked the Attic Room. Wow! It's like a small apartment. Two separate bedrooms, 2 sitting areas and a REALLY large bathroom. The master bedroom has a King bed and it was very comfortable. WE slept great. The bathroom had a large shower, whirlpool bath, two sinks, a chaise lounge, and a dressing table with a lighted magnifying mirror! The owner has thought of everything to make you feel "at home". Also, I can't say enough about the breakfast! Everything that you could possibly want is on the menu! I had a delicious meal which included steak, eggs, cheese grits, fresh fruit, homemade coffee cake, coffee and juice. My husband had the same only an omelet and sausage and my daughter had their fabulous french toast. The Inn at Woodhaven is homey, comfortable experience. You will love it.

From Business to Pleasure

We have stayed at many B&Bs over the years but this is one of the absolute best. It has charming rooms, abundant amenities, attentive service, and a spectacular breakfast. Marsha, the innkeeper, has truly found her calling. Ours was a business trip, but we'll be back for pleasure.

Better than Home for the Holidays

The Inn at Woodhaven is better than home for the holidays with its old world holiday decorations glistening in every nook and cranny, holiday music wafting throughout and homemade cookies on the counter. After a long day of Christmas shopping, it was heaven to sit on the second floor landing with a cup of hot chocolate. The inn goes go out of its way to provide additional amenities in each guest room, including sherry, coffee, tea and assorted snacks of crackers, cookies and biscoti. Guests are also encouraged to enjoy premium liquers while lounging in the downstairs sitting room. Rooms are spacious and have a lot of character with many antiques. The shower was hot and steamy with spa-like towels to wrap up and dry off. A bounitful, three-course breakfast was served and guests can choose from an offering of hot items including omelets, pancakes, a sinfully good french toast casserole and more. You can't beat the location which is a 5 minutes from the largest shopping mall in Louisville. We couldn't believe such an incredible bed and breakfast could be tucked away in such a bustling area. We can't wait to visit again and stay in more rooms.

wonderful

This Inn was absolutely wonderful. I couldn’t think of one thing they left out to make our stay the best. The breakfast was top notch. The decorating, the welcoming atmosphere, the special soaps – everything was just so homey but classy and elegant too. I will definitely recommend this Inn to friends visiting the area. I am from Champaign, Illinois.

Great Getaway

My husband and I live in Indianapolis, and we were looking for a weekend trip away that didn't require much driving. We found the perfect destination in Louisville, KY with our stay at 1853 Inn at Woodhaven! Marsha is a super duper hostess, and her breakfasts are over the top!!! She recommended a restaurant for our evening meal, which we would rank in the top 3 restaurants we have dined at in our 31 years of marriage!!! Fabulous!!! Plus, she let us know of things happening in the area, so we truly enjoyed the Art Festival! Unbelievable! The room we stayed in (The Cupola in the Carriage House) was very cozy, so clean, and Marsha makes you feel right at home in the Main house as well. We will definitely recommend it to others and look forward to staying there again!

Wonderful Anniversary Stay

We stayed here for an Anniversary get-away in July '09. We were very impressed with the Romantic atmosphere and the Innkeeper and staff had thought of everything to make our stay relaxing and comfortable. Some really nice touches: Soft music playing as we entered, the most luxurious pillows and sheets ever, milk bath that "took me away", delicious snacks, out of this world Caramel French Toast, more choices that you can imagine at breakfast, a great selection of movies, and spotless rooms with plenty of space and all the extras. We stayed in the Attic Suite which is the largest room and very private, and it spoiled us so much that we said when we stay there again, we will order breakfast to the room (it is an available option). It was so quiet and cozy. We are locals who just wanted to get away and truly enjoy a retreat, and we were not disappointed. Very grateful for the discount for local customers too. Thanks for a wonderful night Woodhaven! V.Y.

Amazing American Gothic

Impressive architecture combined with tasteful and appropriate decor. Reminded me of England. Innkeeper Marsha was gracious and friendly and efficient. The cozy Cupola room in the carriage house was perfect for my one night stay. Made to order omelette and tasty coffee cakes sent me on my way wishing I could stay another day. This will be my first choice next time I'm in Louisville.

Love this place

I stay here at least once every year and some times more. This is a wonderful bed and breakfast. There are always home baked goodies aroung, it is furnished with real antiques and it is beautiful. Marsha is such a relaxed and welcoming host - she makes it all seem effortless.

Fabulous Inn!!!

Just wanted to let others know what a great time my husband and I had at the Inn at Woodhaven last weekend. The innkeeper stocked the room with snacks, drinks, even sherry! On top of that, there was derby pie for all the guests to try. I loved the Master Suite and we'll be back soon!

Another great night at Woodhaven

My husband and I stayed at the Inn at Woodhaven for the third time this past weekend. We absolutely love it. The Innkeeper, Marsha, leaves nothing to chance and sees to every detail. The rooms are lovely, quiet and comfortable. Breakfast is made to order and served at separate tables. There are also complimentary freshly baked cookies, tea, coffee, and sodas available throughout your stay. Marsha, thanks for sharing your beautiful home with us!

Anniversary surprise!

My husband and I just spent our 15th anniversary at the Inn at Woodhaven - much to my surprise! I could not have asked for a more romantic place - my husband even went to the trouble to have massages and romance packages prepared for our arrival. Our breakfast in bed in the morning simply topped off our great stay. I would absolutely recommend this Inn to anyone. Beautiful, comfortable, can't wait to return.

WOW!!!

WE LOVED THIS PLACE!!! Everything was fantastic. As a newly married couple, we were looking for a romantic place stay in our hometown the first night we were married. When we walked into the room and it was beautiful. We stayed in the Rose Cottage, next to the main house. It was romantic and cozy. We lounged on the front porch and then warmed our toes by the fireplace. The breakfast was awesome. Would we stay here again? Absolutely!! Next weekend please??? Great get away.
