Romantic Interest

The inn overlooks a pastoral meadow shaded by graceful birch trees, with the rolling tapestry of the Berkshire Hills beyond. Whether looking for a romantic getaway or a perfect respite from everyday stress, enjoy your day and return to the inn to soak in the pool in summer, or sit by a roaring fire in winter and sip a complimentary glass of port.

Historic Interest

English-style country house originally built in 1800 by a Revolutionary soldier and modernized and landscaped in the early 1900s by George Westinghouse Jr., the son of the famous inventor. When Queen Wilhelmina of Holland came to Devonfield for a few months in 1942 to escape the looming Nazi takeover of her country, she was a guest at Devonfield. President Roosevelt paid a visit to the Queen and her daughter Juliana and grand-daughters Irene and Beatrix (the current Queen of Holland).

Perfect for Chelsea and for you

Ronnie and Bruce Singer are the most gracious hosts imagineable, and Devonfield Inn is absolutely lovely; beautifully and comfortably furnished, there are wonderful, relaxing public rooms downstairs and gorgeous bedrooms upstairs. Breakfast is luscious, with different hot entrees daily as well as muffins, yougurt, fruit, and cereal. The atmosphere is relaxed while the attention to details and to guests is impeccable. We have stayed there every year since we discovered this treasure about 6 years ago. If Chelsea and Marc Mezvinsky come to Devonfield Inn for a lovely retreat, they will want to return again and again. So will you!

Devonfield Inn provided a romantic getaway for my husband and I. We will be celebrating our 33 year anniversary in September. We were treated like royalty. Breakfast was delightful and all amenities were provided throughout the weekend. Owners and all who worked there were helpful in making reservations for us as well as respecting our privacy. I would recommend Devonfield Inn to friends and family.

This is the second time we have stayed at the inn within six months so we had an opportunity to sample winter and early summer, both wonderful experiences. The large living room overlooking expansive grounds is lovely in the winter and even more beautiful in the spring. We went with our son-and-daughter-in-law who had a great time playing horseshoes, hitting balls on the tennis courts, and just walking around the grounds. The hosts are probably the most welcoming we have come across in our many inn experiences, the rooms are nicely-done, the breakfasts terrific!

My husband and I stayed at the Devonfield Inn for the first time last weekend (12/08). We loved it immediately. The Inn itself is a beautiful home and as you walk into the foyer with the curved staircase and old stove, you immediately know you are in a romantic place. We had not had lunch so we had an early dinner in Stockbridge and then returned to the Inn. The fire was lit with plenty of wood to keep it going. We sat by the fire for three hours, drinking the wonderful port wine, and putting logs on the fire. It was great and we were "annoyed" when the other guests started returning. We wanted the place to ourselves by our lovely fire! Breakfast the next day was great. We sat at a nice table for two by the window, enjoying the view of the grounds and the wonderful spread. The room was also beautiful. We would definitely stay at this Inn again!

I have had the great fortune to stay at the Devonfield Inn in Lee Massachusetts on several occasions. It is a true gem in a beautiful area. This was the first Inn/B&B that my now wife looked at as a potential location for our wedding. We looked at one more place and decided that we would be wasting our time looking at any other places. The Devonfield had everything we were looking for: cozy rooms, enough space for both families, a great area for the ceremony, and tons of space and activities for the kids. Not to mention how easy going and attentive Bruce and Ronnie were. We look forward to revisiting and reminiscing about our perfect weekend again soon!

This fall we traveled to the Berkshires to celebrate our 25th anniversary. Although we planned to bounce from place to place throughout New England, we settled into this beautiful romantic gem in the Berkshires. Everything was outstanding. The Inn, common areas and bedrooms were spacious and comfortable, the service impeccable, the breakfast delicious and the hosts, Ronnie and Bruce were so supportive. Before leaving we booked next years stay. Chad – New York

I took my wife of ten years to the Devonfield Inn for a romantic getaway. We actually live in the Berkshires and could have gone to any one of a hundred different B&B's. I'm not sure why I picked the Devonfield except that it is so pretty from the outside, and when I called to ask about availability I spoke with Bruce, (the owner), who seemed like such a nice person. Everything was perfect, and the owners, Bruce and Ronnie, have to be the sweetest people on earth.

Devonfield is definitely the most romantic, most beautiful, and finest inn that my husband and I have ever stayed at. The owners,Bruce and Ronnie, make you feel like you are part of their family. We spent a romantic golf get-away in the Berkshires. The inn was our refuge after a round or after sightseeing. Whether taking a swim in the pool, sipping a glass of port (while my husband pretended he could play the piano!) or just reading on the garden patio with the scenic Berkshires in front of you, there are many ways to find intimate moments at the inn. It was our first visit to Devonfield and we will be back. This is a real find in the Berkshires. Great central location yet removed from the hustle and bustle of the main routes. The innkeepers, Bruce and Ronnie, provided just the right balance of being very helpful and welcoming while letting us have our private space.

When in the Berkshires, we wouldn't stay anywhere but Devonfield Country Inn. Located in a lush, enormous parkland, the Inn is meticulously well-kept and lovingly luxurious. Owners Ronnie and Bruce Singer make sure that their guests feel uniquely special; when your visit is over, you really feel that you are leaving home instead of going home. Breakfasts are delicious and abundant; the dining room and porch are lovely, comfy settings where one can make new friends or read the paper while enjoying a great meal. There is a guest kitchen with a fridge and an always-full cookie jar for a snack after the theater or Tanglewood. Guest bedrooms are romantic, beautifully furnished and immaculate. The beds are great. What more could one ask for? Only more time to stay there.

It's with great anticipation we wait at least twice a year to after booking our reservations at Devonfield to making the trip to our private little getaway. When we arrive at the beautiful setting that is the Devonfield Inn the feeling immediately settles over us of peace and serenity and just feeling great. You can't match the feeling of sitting in front of their big fire place on a cold dreary day and spending hours reading a good book. There are not many things that rival it. We love staying at the Devonfield! Steve Tenzer

We are 4 timers at Devonfield. We come back every year for a renewal of the romantic spirit that brought us together initially. The innkeepers are gracious hosts and you surely feel welcome yet your privacy is of the utmost concern to them. Devonfield provides a setting that you will want to return to again and again.

Ronnie and Bruce Singer have created a warm and welcoming feeling in this lovely home. In the short time they have owned this property, they have made wonderful improvements. The property is beautifully maintained and the staff is wonderful. We’ve been coming here for years and the Singers have been the best of all the owners. The breakfasts are delicious and they will answer any questions and make suggestions of places to go , etc. We truly love the Inn and will be back for Labor Day weekend!

Whether you’re planning a weekend or a season in the Berkshires and are wondering where is the best place to stay, look no further. Having stayed in at least five other ’top rated’ inns and B&B’s in the area I can say without any reservation that Devonfield Inn out classes them all. The inn is absolutely beautiful and meticulously maintained. Bruce and Ronnie are unequalled in their attention to their guest’s needs - from the warm welcome & tour of the inn to the generous array of after dinner drinks and port wine offered by the parlor’s fireside. From the moment we arrived until the tearful good-bye we felt like family. We look forward to returning again and again. I only wish the rating scale on this website had numbers above 5 (Superior) because Devonfield Inn truly is in a league of its own. -- Gerard Verbiar (October 30, 2008)

Staying at the Devonfield is an amazing experience. We were in the cottage, which was spacious and homey...but that's just part of it. The amenities are outstanding--from cognac and cordials all over the inn, to chocolates and a complete make-your-own-coffee kitchen with cookies, to breakfast on the sunporch, to robes and a great video and book collection and CD players...and so on. We only had one night because they were booked solid...wish it could have been longer.

You don’t have to be a newlywed to enjoy a romantic getaway at Devonfield! This was our third stay at Devonfield, visiting in both Spring and Fall. It doesn’t have to be Valentine’s Day to plan a special time away with the one you love. Devonfield has become our perfect getaway for a romantic weekend, now more than ever! With the falling gas prices and the worsening Wall Street news, we asked ourselves…”Whats really important?” ….we are! We now look forward to very affordable vacations without the headaches of traffic and boring hotels. Innkeepers Ronnie and Bruce Singer, immediately made us feel at home from the moment we arrived. The historic and relaxing ambiance of the cozy living room areas combined with the plush and spacious bedrooms, complete with fireplace, allowed us to just…relax! More importantly, my wife and I had no distractions and the fun and memories came flooding back! We especially look forward to the special breakfasts prepared by Ronnie and Kim! Our fourth stay is already booked!

From the moment you arrive at this beautiful quaint inn you fall in love. The proprietors are wonderful and everything has that "extra" touch. Nothing has been overlooked to satisfy a guest. This is the place you want to see when you want to define "romantic inn". The quality of the linens, the decor, fresh flowers, the fabulous breakfasts, the social gathering rooms. Everything is picture perfect. The beauty of the surrounding Berkshires along with their strolling grounds for walks is unmatched. They make you feel welcome and at home. Definitely a "repeat" spot for all romantics. The owners by the way are high school sweethearts and it shows - need I say more?

I had the pleasure to find one of the most beautiful, quaint, well run Inns I have ever stayed at. I speak of Devonfield Inn, 85 Stockbridge Road, Lee, MA. From the moment we drove up to the front door, we were greeted by the owners, Ronnie and Bruce Singer and welcomed with the aroma of freshly baked cookies. We were shown to a room on the second floor, magnificently decorated with a beautiful fireplace. The room was immaculate, it looked out over acres of beautiful green space and forest. In walking around the property it was something out of a book. The pool was beautiful. The breakfast was sumptuous, delicious, and the surrounding areas of Lee were spectacular. We enjoyed ourselves immensely and recommend Devonfield to our friends and families and we look forward to this year.

If you're planning on an extended weekend or longer respite in the beautiful Berkshires at any season of the year, enhance your time by staying at Devonfield, a most gracious and comfortable inn in Lee, close to Tanglewood and all the cultural and scenic pleasures of the area. I've done that for over ten years and look forward each time to the assured amenities and elegance of my stay. I've never been disappointed. Everything from pool to tennis court to luxurious lawns and meadows are at one's disposal. The sunny breakfast room, with varied and delicious fare, the beautifully-appointed period rooms with their cozy atmosphere and the extensive and elegant book-lined living room all assure comfort in style. Ronnie and Bruce Singer, the proprietors, make every effort to guarantee a rewarding and interesting stay. They totally succeed . It's an Inn for All Seasons!

Where do we begin? We held our small, family wedding at the Devonfield in February 2007 and cannot possibly begin to express what an incredible experience it was. From the moment we first visited and met with the innkeepers at the Devonfield, we knew it was the perfect place to hold our wedding weekend. The Devonfield is absolutely beautfiul in terms of decor, details, and surrounding views. The innkeepers and their assistants are remarkably warm and immediately make you feel comfortable and "at home". Each of our wedding planning visits to the Devonfield was amazing as we noticed new details and remarkable attentiveness to every detail in the inn as well as with our upcoming nuptials. We arrived on a Thursday and Ronnie and Bruce Singer, the innkeepers, were so flexible around our separate arrivals given that we had family coming from many different directions. They started our stay off with a lovely wine and appetizer reception and from there on out we felt at home and completely comfortable enjoying all of the amenities of the Devonfield. Our wedding, held in front of the fireplace in the living room, was picture perfect. We could go on and on about each of the aspects of our stay...delicious breakfasts, treats in the pantry, working fireplace in our room, exquisite view, etc. but the bottom line is the Devonfield is absolutely remarkable

Devonfield is divine! Posted by Dennis from New Jersey From the moment we stepped in to this elegant English country inn, we felt at home. The innkeepers were welcoming and warm. Our room was spectacular- working fire place and a view out in to the snow covered meadow and mountains beyond. The home is filled with beautiful antiques, yet is thoughtfully appointed with all modern amenities. Breakfast was delicious- we began with granola, yogurt, fresh fruit, and juice and then enjoyed delectable apple french toast. After a long day of skiing, we returned to a roaring fire place in the living room where we sat and chatted with fellow guests. We only wished we could have stayed longer! We will definitely return to this special gem and recommend it wholeheartedly to others.

It was our wedding anniversary and the owners left a single red rose and small bottle of champagne with glasses and a card. What a lovely touch and completely surprising. The bedding is devine.
